PHSE (including Relationships and Health Education
For PSHE and RSE we use Jigsaw. This is a unique, spiral, progressive and effective scheme of work that aims to prepare children and young people for life, helping them to know and value who they are how they relate to other people in this ever changing world.
Jigsaw consists of six half-term units of work (puzzles) each containing six lessons (pieces) covering each academic year. Every piece has two learning intentions, one specific to PSHE (including Relationships and Health Education) and the other designed to develop emotional literacy and social skills.
The Jigsaw units of work are: Being in my World - including understanding my place in the class, school and global community, as well as devising learning charters; Celebrating Difference - including anti-bullying (cyber and homophobic bullying included) and diversity work; Dreams and Goals - including goal setting, aspirations for yourself and the world and working together; Healthy Me - including drugs and alcohol education, self esteem and confidence as well as healthy lifestyle choices; Relationships - including understanding friendships, family and other relationships, conflict resolution and communication skills; Changing Me - Including Sex and Relationships Educationin the context of coping positively with change (including age appropriate Sex Education)
